Cabo Verde is strapless kitesurf paradise. Sal that I had the chance to visit this year is particularly great for strapless kitesurfing. Perfect wave conditions on one side with side off winds on Ponta Preta and great kickers on the other (eastern) side, world famous Kite Beach and its Mitu and Djo restaurant. It’s not a coincidence if the world champion and a lot of top ranked strapless riders come from this island. Santa Maria is a nice town, there is clearly not much to do on the island, chill, eat, party and kitesurfing.. but what else do you need ? People are super friendly, women are beautiful, and the food is very good. With a lot of Italian influence most of the restaurants will offer great pizzas and pastas at a little bit lower than european prices (between 10 and 15€). If you’re looking for cheaper food you have to go a little bit further downtown where you can find delicious grilled chicken and french fries for a very affordable 3€. We where lucky enough to have wind every single day and even luckier to ride Ponta Preta during three consecutive days with one in particular that got really huge. At the end, we could feel a real progression in our riding and didn’t want to leave the island. Now I understand why so many people fall in love with this island. Cabo Verde, I’ll definitely come back !
